In support of the Western Australian Government’s Zero Waste program which aims to eliminate waste going to landfill, OWS is keen to assist business and government agencies in the separation and recycling of organic waste. Some of our current clients include Western Power, Department of Environmental Health, WA Local Government Association and Town of Cambridge.

For a minimal cost we can arrange for small organic waste bins to be placed in your tearooms, lunch rooms or cafeterias. These are marked for ‘ORGANIC WASTE ONLY’ and are cleared twice weekly to avoid any unpleasant odours developing in the bins. The organic waste is taken to our worm farms where it is converted into a soil conditioner for use local community gardens, such as the West Leederville Community Garden.

We can help recycle your organic waste including lunch scraps, paper towels, tea bags, coffee grounds and any other food waste. For this service we charge a modest rate per bin, varying from $8 to $10, depending on the volume involved. We also supply stainless steel peddle-operated 20 litre bins with biodegradable liners. As part of our service we can offer a presentation to your staff about Vermiculture (worm farming) and the environmental benefits of recycling organic waste.

The benefits of recycling your workplace’s organic waste include:-

  • Minimising waste going to landfill
  • Reducing Toxic Leachate
  • Supporting local community gardens
  • Educating Staff about composting
  • Reducing Carbon Emissions

Approximately 1 kg of organic waste diverted from landfill is equivalent to saving 1kg of greenhouse gas emissions. For example… If a business produces 100kgs of food waste per week, this could equate to a saving of over 5 tonnes of greenhouse gases per year.
